Launch of the world’s first MP-type monaural cartridge “MP-MONO” and “1 mil replacement stylus for MP-MONO”

NAGAOKA mainly manufactures and sells audio accessories, including record needles, and is entering its 84th year since its founding as an audio equipment manufacturer.
It boasts the world's largest market share in production volume of bonded diamond tips used for record needles.
NAGAOKA's representative record cartridge product, the “NAGAOKA MP Series (Moving Permalloy),” achieves delicate, high-quality reproduction by attaching a lightweight piece of iron (permalloy) to the cantilever to reduce weight. This gives the record needle greater freedom of movement than the conventional MM type (Moving Magnet).
This MP-type cartridge lineup ranges from high-end models to entry-level models for customers who want to enjoy them casually.
As a new addition to the “MP Series,” we will launch the world's first MP-type monaural cartridges, “MP-MONO” and the “1 mil replacement stylus for MP-MONO,” in June. (The official release date will be announced later on our website.)
The expected retail prices are 【MP-MONO】36,000 yen (excluding tax) / 39,600 yen (including tax), 【replacement stylus JN-PMONO 0.7E】10,800 yen (excluding tax) / 11,880 yen (including tax), and 【replacement stylus JN-PMONO 1.0E】12,600 yen (excluding tax) / 13,860 yen (including tax).
Reservations will begin on May 13, our company's anniversary, at NAGAOKA Direct on Amazon.

In recent years, the appeal of monaural sound has been reevaluated, and reissues of classic recordings from the past have been released one after another.
To fully bring out the powerful sound and sound-image expression of monaural records, we recommend listening with a cartridge dedicated to monaural playback.
Most monaural cartridges currently on the market primarily use stylus tips with a tip size of 0.6–0.7 mil, designed for modern record cutting.
“MP-MONO” comes standard with a 0.7 mil stylus tip and was developed to bring out the sound contours and realism of monaural records, aiming for high-resolution monaural playback.
In contrast, the 1 mil replacement stylus features a stylus tip capable of reproducing powerful sound with rich mid-low frequencies.
During the era when monaural records were standard (from the mid-1940s to the mid-1950s), record playback using 1 mil stylus tips was mainstream.
As a manufacturer capable of consistently producing bonded needles, NAGAOKA is committed to reproducing the sound field and atmosphere of that era, and will release a 1 mil stylus tip at the same time to provide a more authentic monaural experience.
Enjoy the differences in sound quality between each one.
Through our stylus tips, we create products with the hope that the warm sound produced by records will help people rediscover the importance of human connection and bring happiness to everyone who listens to records.
“MP-MONO” and the “1 mil replacement stylus for MP-MONO,” brought to life through NAGAOKA's passion for analog records and advanced technical expertise.
Please enjoy the overwhelming audio experience newly provided by our company.
