About MP Series
MC, MM, and MP use the same principle of sound generation. What differs is the moving element.
As the stylus traces the record groove, its vibration creates a change in magnetic flux, generating an electrical signal in the coil.
MM, MP, and MC systems all generate electricity through this principle of electromagnetic induction.
The only difference is what moves: the coil in an MC cartridge, the magnet in an MM cartridge, and highly permeable Super Permalloy in an MP cartridge.
-
The magnetized Super Permalloy moves together with the stylus.
Its low mass enables faithful tracking of subtle vibrations while delivering high output.
Replaceable stylus. -
The coil moves together with the stylus.
Its low mass enables faithful tracking of subtle vibrations, but output is low.
Stylus is not replaceable. -
The magnet moves together with the stylus.
Its greater mass provides slightly less responsive tracking, but output is high.
Replaceable stylus.
